Coronavirus information for prospective students and applicants

We're looking forward to welcoming you in September. We understand this year has been different, which is why we have adapted to ensure your university experience at Derby doesn't have to be put on hold.

Starting in September

At the moment we are finalising our teaching plans for the Autumn semester, and we will keep you updated over the next few months as things develop.

It is likely that social distancing measures will still be in place, but we have created a safe environment for you with safety measures in place across all of our sites.

Your teaching experience

We are changing with the changing world and we have adapted quickly so your learning doesn't have to be put on hold. Whether teaching will be online or in person, we will ensure you have access to the highest quality teaching and the best possible student experience.

Your social life

We understand that this year will be different, but we've been working with our Union of Students to ensure you can look forward to a bit more normality in September. We're committed to offering you more of an in-person Freshers with fantastic opportunities to meet new people and socialise, express yourself and your identity, join a vibrant student community, and fulfill your potential. Regardless of the situation, and whether you're after activities, representation, volunteering opportunities, employability, or advice, we'll be here for you throughout your studies. Information about Freshers week will be updated on the Derby Fresh page.

If you are an international student you can find all the up-to-date information about travel to the UK and self-isolation on our Guidance for International Applicant page.

"My university experience has been brilliant throughout the pandemic. The staff have stepped up and taken on new challenges incredibly well. Lecturers have given online support in their own time and the halls team have maintained a social events calendar." Devon Kirkland, MEng Motorsport Engineering student
