About

I am currently a lecturer at the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care at the University of Derby, United Kingdom. My role includes teaching across the college and conducting research. I am the module leader for both the Global Health module within the Master of Public Health Programme and the Skill for Interprofessional Practice Module for Foundation level students. 

Before joining the University, I worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton. I hold a PhD in Health Studies from the University of Nottingham, UK. My commitment in the field of disability and rehabilitation won me the prestigious and enviable University of Nottingham’s Vice chancellor’s scholarship which funded my PhD study. I did both my master’s and bachelor’s degrees at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a top University in Ghana and West Africa. At the master’s level, I pursued MSc. Disability, Rehabilitation and Development where I majored in healthcare, assessment and rehabilitation of persons living with disabilities. My bachelor’s degree was in BSc. Sports and Exercise Science with majors in exercise rehabilitation of long-term conditions and health promotion.

Experience in industry

Before I relocated to England from Ghana, I worked in a very reputable hospital as the head of the Rehabilitation unit. I operated both as a clinic and community-based therapist.

International experience

I have worked in Ghana as a professional in stroke rehabilitation and as a researcher in childhood disabilities. I also played a head role supervision as a rehabilitation specialist in the establishment of a rehabilitation centre for the care of patients with functional disabilities

Additional interests and activities

• Highly proficient in technical staff music and a singer as well
• Skillful and gifted in playing the keyboard and guitar
