We’ve tried to answer some questions you may have about the Academic Achievement Scholarship below, but if you have any further queries, please contact the admissions team by email or by phone on +44 (0)1332 591167.

You’ll need 120 UCAS points or more – that’s BBB or above at A-level or DDM at BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. For some of our health related courses you’ll need ABB/128 UCAS points. Find out more about other qualifications we accept.

No – you are only eligible if we’ve offered you a place to study on a full-time undergraduate course and you have chosen us as your firm choice on UCAS.

You do not need to apply for the scholarship separately. All you need to do is apply to study at the University of Derby – you can apply directly or through UCAS by Tuesday 30 June 2020.

You can receive the scholarship if you are planning to study any full-time undergraduate course offered on campus by the University of Derby. This does not include:

  • Foundation level courses
  • Corporate learning courses
  • Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) courses
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses
  • Accelerated degrees
  • Apprenticeship courses
  • Postgraduate taught or research courses
  • MSc pre-registration courses
  • Online courses
  • Courses undertaken at a partnership institution

You don’t need to do anything else – just focus on your studies! If you achieve BBB/120 UCAS points (or ABB/128 UCAS points for some of our health courses) when you enrol with us, we will provide details on how you will receive payment in three instalments throughout the year to the bank account registered with the Student Loans Company.

If you’re joining us from overseas, you’re not eligible for the Academic Achievement Scholarship, although we have a range of scholarships and discounts available to international students from countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) and outside of the European Union (EU).

The Academic Achievement Scholarship will apply to your first year of study only, however we also provide financial assistance through the University Bursary to those who are eligible.
