[The letter from the Privy Council Office, Whitehall, London, SW1A 2AT, dated 14 January 1993, is addressed to Roger Waterhouse Esq, Director, Derbyshire College of Higher Education, Kedleston Road, Derby, DE3 1GB. Professor Waterhouse became the University's first Vice-Chancellor.]

I write to say that the Privy Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, have been pleased to consent to the adoption of the name University of Derby by the College.
