It's been compiled from publicly available information for the financial period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021, including data from Companies House and the Fame database. This financial period was of course heavily impacted by the pandemic.

To qualify for the Top 200, companies must have:

Resilient sectors

During this financial year, which was so significantly impacted by the pandemic, most businesses saw a drop in turnover. The total turnover for all 200 businesses this year was £3.78 billion less than last year — a drop of around 14%.

However, several sectors remained resilient — especially healthcare and medicine, construction, and chemicals — so businesses within those industries often performed better than last year.
