8 October 2015

Hundreds of students and graduates attended the University of Derby's GRIP (Graduate Recruitment, Internship and Placement) Careers Fair today (October 8) where 65 local, regional and national employers were in attendance.

GRIP was open to all students and recent graduates, between 10.30am-3.30pm, where they could meet companies, including Boots, Rolls-Royce and East Midlands Trains. HMRC were also in attendance as they have 200 places available in their graduate training scheme.

The event was hosted by the University of Derby's Career and Employment services at its Kedleston Road site.

Paige Mathieson, a 22, second-year student, said: “I found the GRIP fair really useful, there were so many stalls with employers on. It’s provided me with lots of hopeful leads.”

Sue Morrison, Head of Careers and Employment Services at Derby, said: “It has been fabulous to host so many employers who want to recruit talented Derby students and graduates. The response from our students has been outstanding.”

96.9% of graduates are in work or study within six months of completing their studies.
