Logistic courses at Derby given stamp of approval by national organisation

The independent professional body for individuals associated with logistics, supply chains and transport, has accredited two logistic courses at Derby Business School at the University of Derby.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT UK) gave the accreditation to the BSc (Hons) Logistics and Supply Chain Management and BSc (Hons) Logistics Management (Top Up) courses.

Accreditation of the two courses will provide a number of benefits to students studying at Derby, including: access to more than 46,000 items of information in the CILT UK’s International Knowledge Centre, the opportunity to attend a range of national events and, a careers service which offers a dedicated career consultant to assist with CV and interview preparations.

John Day, Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management and Supply Chain Management at Derby Business School, said: “We’re very proud to have Derby’s two logistic courses accredited by CILT UK – the main representing body of the logistics and transport industry. 

“The accreditation is valuable to our students who will receive a number of benefits from their student membership including career development opportunities and access to the CILT UK’s wealth of knowledge and resources.”

Emily Key, who is currently studying the BSc Logistics Management (Top Up), added: “Logistics was an industry I had always been fascinated in and I already had a good idea of the demands of the industry due to my family background running an Engineering Supply Organisation.

“Studying Logistics at Derby has opened my eyes to the many opportunities available out there. We’re on the doorstep of a massive logistics and supply chain network and the accreditation has helped strengthen my future career goals.

“I’ve recently been accepted onto the DHL Supply Chain Operations Management Graduate Programme, commencing in September 2016, which I can’t wait to begin.”
