University promotes significant Supply Chain and Operations research

6 November 2015

Two researchers from the University of Derby’s Business School have released the latest issue of their online journal, which promotes new and innovative research in the supply chain and operations industry.

Derby’s Professor Ming Lim, Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement, and Dr Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes, Reader in Operations Management and Business Excellence are also the Editor-in-Chief and Editor of the International Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience (IJSCOR).

In the third instalment of the journal, published by Inderscience, the university academics have collated international research from the Philippines (De La Salle University), Egypt (Helwan University), Canada (University of Ontario Institue of Technology), Iran (Shahed University) and the US (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University).

The important research focuses on topics such as: green supply chains, hybrid transportation, supply chain risk management, and configured supply chains for quick response.

Dr Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes said: “Supply chains and business operations are the backbone for development and growth of organisations and nations. Today’s uncertain, turbulent environments expose supply chains and business operations to risks and disruptions that can significantly damage organisations and economies.

“The Centre for Supply Chain Improvement of the Derby Business School founded the International Journal of Supply Chain and Operation Resilience at the end of 2012 as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and sharing practical experiences in managing, improving and sustaining resilience strategies for supply chains and business operations.”

The IJSCOR presents the latest research and developments in supply chain and operations management. It emphasises theoretical research with practical application to help industrialists to bridge the gap between the supply chain and operations management theory and its effective deployment and application.
