Thousands of prospective students and their families are expected to attend a bumper two-day event in Derby next month as they explore their university options ahead of Results Day this summer.

Taking place at the University of Derby on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June, the Open Day event has been expanded across two days following the success of last year, giving visitors even more opportunities to experience university life in Derby first-hand.

The Open Day falls ahead of Results Day in August, allowing students to explore their university options by visiting campus, touring facilities and accommodation, and discovering what the city has to offer before making important decisions about their future.

Across the two days, prospective students and their families will be able to meet academics, current students and graduates, attend subject talks, and tour the University’s industry-standard facilities and award-winning accommodation.

Students who already have their grades, or predicted grades that meet the University’s entry requirements, may also be able to leave the event with a provisional offer.

Hannah Wright, Associate Director – Student Recruitment at the University of Derby, said:

“Our upcoming Open Days give students and families the perfect opportunity to explore their options and experience university life in Derby first-hand.

“We’d really encourage anyone considering university this September, or next, to come and visit us in person. It’s a great chance to explore our campuses, facilities and accommodation, meet our staff and students, and get a real feel for what life at the University of Derby is like.

“Whether students already know what they want to study or are still weighing up their options, our Open Days are designed to help everyone leave feeling confident and excited about the next step.”

One prospective student who attended a recent event described the experience as “amazing” and “an incredible university” adding that “the University of Derby has moved from being my third choice to my first”.

Visitors interested in teaching careers can also find out more about a new Early Years Teaching course launching this September, which enables students to gain Qualified Teacher Status in three years.
