About

I joined the University of Derby as a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology in February 2021. My background is in Psychology and Forensic Psychology.

My doctoral research at the University of Sheffield examined fear of crime, and perceptions of safety in urban environments, with a particular focus on the role of road lighting in shaping psychological and behavioural responses, using a survey and experimental-based design. 

Having had the opportunity to research, or support research, in a range of topics, such as Sexual Homicide, Situational Crime Analysis, and Children's perceptions of Court language, recently my research interests have increasingly focused on applied and community-based issues, including domestic violence, restorative justice, and the experiences of vulnerable populations. I have supervised quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods projects, and cross-cultural research.

I am also a Personal Academic Tutor, and have been a Forensic Psychology Careers and Employability co-coordinator between 2021-2022, the L3 year tutor (2021-2022).

Currently I am the Programme leader for the BSc in Forensic Psychology, and the lead for the Forensic Perspectives pathway in the BSc Psychology.

Research interests

The current research interests include preventative initiatives around online child sexual abuse, restorative justice, the conceptualisation of harm in parenting practices, domestic violence and improving access to support for under-reached communities.

I have also begun incorporating systemic perspectives into my research, exploring how relational and ecological frameworks can contribute to understanding and preventing harm across individual, family, and community contexts.
