About

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Loughborough University in 2015 which included a placement year at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London (2013). Following this, I went on to complete an MSc in Psychology Research Methods in 2016 at the University of Surrey and a PhD in Psychology at Loughborough University in 2019. I joined the University of Derby as a lecturer in August 2021, having previously worked as a Teaching Associate in Psychology at the University of Nottingham and an Associate Lecturer in Sport Psychology at the University of Northampton.

Teaching responsibilities

I am module leader for "Introduction to Research Methods", "Psychology Research Project" and co-module leader for "Independent Study in Psychology".  I also teach across a variety of research methods modules and deliver eating behaviour related guest lectures e.g., "Development of eating behaviour in childhood", "Exercise and food addiction", "Eating Disorders". I supervise, BSc, MSc and PhD level projects, primarily in the field of eating behaviours.

Research interests

My doctoral research examined how teammates influence disordered eating and compulsive exercise behaviours in athlete populations. Currently, my research is concerned with exploring factors that protect against or increase the risk of disordered eating behaviour (e.g., nature connection, emotion skills regulation, social influence). Other research interests include exploring the wellbeing and help-seeking behaviours of athlete populations and the impact of exercise on cognitive function.
