About

I am a nursing lecturer with over 20 years of clinical practice in Adult Nursing, with a particular focus on Specialist Practice District Nursing. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive expertise in delivering high-quality patient-centred care within community settings.

Alongside my clinical background, I am deeply committed to nursing education and the development of the future workforce. My experience in NHS service improvement and clinical governance directly informs my academic role, enabling me to embed principles of quality, safety and continuous improvement into my teaching.

I work closely with NHS clinical colleagues to ensure that teaching remains contemporary, practice-focused and responsive to workforce needs. Collaboration with practice partners enables me to support students effectively in both academic and clinical settings.

Teaching responsibilities

I currently serve as a Module Leader for the Discovering a Nursing Career in General Practice and the Bladder and Bowel Dysfunction module. In these roles, I design, coordinate and deliver evidence-informed teaching that integrates current policy, research and clinical best practice. I am passionate about creating engaging learning environments that promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning and professional confidence.

As part of the School of Health and Social Care within the College of Health and Humanities, I contribute to a supportive, innovative and student-centred academic community dedicated to excellence in healthcare education.

Professional interests

My professional interests focus on strengthening the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within Community and Primary Care settings.

A key area of interest is workforce development, especially in preparing and supporting the future General Practice and Community Nursing workforce. I am committed to fostering clinical leadership, professional confidence and critical thinking within Nursing education to ensure practitioners are equipped to meet the evolving demands of Primary Care.

I also have a strong interest in clinical governance, patient safety and NHS service improvement. Embedding principles of quality assurance, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement within both clinical care and education underpins my academic work. I am particularly motivated by strengthening the integration between higher education and clinical practice, working collaboratively with NHS partners to enhance student learning, service development and patient outcomes.
