Dr Ovidiu Bagdasar

About

I am a Professor of Mathematics, International Lead for the School of Computing and coordinator of the Vretta maths support project at Derby. As an academic with extensive experience and innovative classroom practice, I focus on Learning and Teaching, supported by impactful Research and International collaborations. My time is spent between research, teaching, and visits to international partners.

Together with colleagues from the University of Derby, students, and EdTech companies, I developed numeracy training courses to help students and staff, enterprises, communities, and partners. My educational goal is to fulfil the dream of “a world where everyone enjoys maths”.

Teaching responsibilities

My teaching is informed by research in theoretical and applied mathematics, and current issues in mathematical education like the numeracy gap and maths anxiety. I have led various UG and PG modules, including:
