About

I have had a diverse career inclusive of roles as a Registered Nurse Orthopaedics, Research Nurse, Practice Nurse, District Nurse, Health Visitor, Specialist Public Health Nurse, Nurse Prescriber and mentor for pre- and post-registration students. I am now the Programme Lead for the BSc Hons in Nursing Studies (online top-up) at the University of Derby. I have worked within education for the last 8 years and have over 30 years’ experience as a health professional and hold a BSc Hons in Specialist Practice and an MA in Public Health.

I was one of the first 50 nurses in the UK to pilot the Family Nurse Partnership, working alongside eminent professionals in this field. I have also initiated a number of innovative practice areas, including setting up a young people’s sexual health centre, and have presented at both local and national conferences on a wide range of subjects.

I have a keen interest in leadership and quality, and my subject specialist areas are young people, public health, maternal mental health, foetal brain development, and therapeutic relationships.

I have also contributed to research and have recognised published work.
