Alberta Student Aid is a government funding programme that helps eligible Alberta residents meet the cost of post-secondary study through a combination of loans, grants, and scholarships. Funding may be available to students studying at approved institutions both within Canada and internationally, subject to eligibility and programme requirements established by Alberta Student Aid.

Eligibility

Students applying for Alberta Student Aid must meet the eligibility requirements set by Alberta Student Aid, including residency, financial need, and enrolment in an eligible programme of study. Eligibility is determined by Alberta Student Aid, not by the University of Derby.

Full-Time Study Requirements

To be considered a full-time student for Alberta Student Aid purposes, you must meet the full-time study requirements established by Alberta Student Aid. Changes to your course load may affect your eligibility for funding and could result in a reassessment of your award.

The University can only complete Alberta Student Aid enrolment confirmations after you have:

  • Accepted your offer of admission
  • Completed University enrolment and registration requirements
  • Completed any required Right to Study checks
  • Commenced your studies

Before any funding can be released, Alberta Student Aid must receive confirmation that you are enrolled full-time for the applicable study period. Alberta Student Aid will provide you with a Confirmation of Registration (COR) worksheet, which you must send to canadafunding@derby.ac.uk for signature. COR worksheets are sent separately from the Student Award Letter, you can view and print the COR worksheets by signing onto you account on studentaid.alberta.ca

Important Notice

To ensure your documentation is processed correctly, all COR worksheet requests should be submitted to canadafunding@derby.ac.uk This is the only approved contact point for obtaining the required signature.

Please note that if your COR worksheet is signed by an unauthorised member of staff, Alberta Student Aid may reject your application or request that the documentation is resubmitted. This could result in delays to the assessment of your funding application and the release of your student funding.
