G52

Background

Based in Gamesley, the G52 project is run by a small team of volunteers who aim to provide year-round activities to local people to help address social and economic exclusion.

They run a variety of initiatives in Gamesley ranging from cooking on a budget classes and Christmas markets to teen residentials and fuel poverty workshops.

How did the Community Fund help?

Pat Javanaud, who runs G52, said: "The award of £375 Community Fund grant is a valuable boost to the work of G52. G52 is reliant on attracting funds to enable it to provide low-cost and no-cost activities for Gamesley residents. The group is run by local volunteers who plan and organise a wide range of activities, with a particular focus on creating opportunities which are open to all. One of the constant battles the group encounter is that of fund raising, so to be given this support validates that our efforts are appreciated."

Pat Javanaud explains how the University of Derby helped G52 provide services for the people of Gamesley.
