As scientists and engineers, we’re naturally curious about our world. By asking three key questions - how does it happen? why does it happen? what impact does it have? — we can investigate almost anything, including some of the biggest challenges we face today, such as:

how viruses spread and how vaccines are developed
how we can create more clean energy and sustainable transport
how we can reduce the impacts of climate change
how people can be encouraged to take regular physical exercise
how nature can be integrated better into our urban landscape
how we can develop more personalised medical care
how cybercrime can be better detected and prevented

Once we understand these issues better and what their impacts are, we can take action and call for change. We are in a position to help make the world greener, healthier, safer and more productive.
