About the day

The Healthcare Insight Day is an engaging and interactive opportunity for students to explore the future of healthcare and the wide range of careers available across the sector.

Built around the NHS’s three major healthcare shifts - Hospital to Community, Analogue to Digital, and Sickness to Prevention - the day will explore how healthcare is evolving to meet the needs of modern society.

Through three interactive taster sessions, students will experience university-style learning while exploring how areas such as Nursing, Allied Health Professions, Health and Social Care, digital healthcare, and public health contribute to the future of patient care. Each student will take part in all three sessions, giving them the opportunity to explore every healthcare shift and understand how different professions work together across the healthcare system.

Students will take part in practical activities and real-world case studies that demonstrate:

• how care is increasingly being delivered closer to home,
• how technology and AI are transforming healthcare delivery,
• and how prevention and early intervention are becoming central to improving long-term health outcomes.

Throughout the day, students will hear from expert academic staff about careers within healthcare, future progression routes, and the changing nature of the NHS workforce.

Students will also have the opportunity to learn within our specialist healthcare facilities, including clinical skills suites and simulation environments, providing a real insight into the settings used to train future healthcare professionals.

Structure of the day

The day will be structured around the NHS’s three healthcare shifts, with all students taking part in each interactive taster session.

• 09:30am – Arrival window for 10:00am start
• 10:00am – Welcome Presentation
• 10:30am – Taster Session 1: Hospital to Community
• 11:30am – Taster Session 2: Analogue to Digital
• 12:30pm – Lunch Break
• 1:00pm – Taster Session 3: Sickness to Prevention
• 2:00pm – Closing Session & Healthcare Careers
• 2:30pm – End of Event
