Get involved

Our Residence Life Manager works with the Sport and Activity team to host a range of hall competitions and tournaments throughout the academic year. The emphasis is very much on having fun and getting involved. All residents in University halls are welcome, whether they are complete beginners or experienced players. You can either sign up with friends and flatmates or solo. Either way, you’ll be put in a team to represent your hall. Earn points for your residence just by taking part, and every time your team wins a game you’ll get bonus points.

Halls Sports Awards Evening

We are delighted to announce our inaugural halls sports awards event which will take place on Wednesday 15th May at the Dubrek Studios, Bridge Street from 4pm. The event will be a celebration of all students who have taken part and supported competitions throughout the year. Awards will be given out including participant of the year, most sporting halls and special recognition. The criteria for the awards can be found below, nominations close midday on Thursday 2nd May.

Halls Participant of the Year

An individual who has taken part in 1 or more competitions and has shown excellent sportsmanship, encouragement to others participating and whom has given their all.

Most Sporting Halls of the Year

This nomination is for the halls of residence you believe has played competitions and events in a fair and respectful manner and who have encouraged all those taking part.

Halls Special Recognition Award

Is there someone you know who has taken part and has either gone above and beyond or who deserves some extra credit? This individual may have taken part in multiple competitions and won your halls lots of points or they may be the person living in your halls who has been encouraging students to take part and get a team together for your halls.

Sign Up To Competitions

The easiest way to find out about upcoming competitions and to enter is by downloading the UoD Active app and joining the Halls Sport community. To do so:

  1. Download the app via the Google Play or Apple App Store
  2. Create an account using your university email address
  3. Join the halls sport community
  4. Enter the competitions of your choice

Joining in the hall's event is a surefire way to make new friends from your own hall and others. Even if you don’t consider yourself as sporty, there’s a chance to get involved as activities are open to all abilities and you don’t need any experience.
