How to find your room

Finding your way around new campuses can feel daunting, but our campus room codes provide a straightforward way to identify where your studies are taking place and help you find your room.

Each session on your timetable will include a room code, indicating the location it will take place. By checking your timetable and understanding the room code format, you will quickly be able to find the site and room where your session is being held.

Room code format

Our room codes are made up of three parts:

1. Site or Area: one or two letter abbreviation that identifies the campus site or building

2. Floor: a number indicating the floor, or letters (LG for Lower Ground, G for Ground Floor, UG for Upper Ground)

3. Room Number: the room's unique number

The examples below show how room codes relate to specific sites and campuses:

Site abbreviations

Our sites have individual abbreviations that form the first part of the room codes. Most of our sites use a single abbreviation, making them easy to recognise when checking your timetable.

Please note: our Kedleston Road site is slightly different, as it is made up of several buildings and areas. Multiple abbreviations are used across the Kedleston Road site, to help you identify specific locations more accurately.
