The course is delivered in three stages - Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters - comprising seven core modules and a 40-credit independent study dissertation.

How you are assessed
On the MSc Global Operations and Supply Chain Management programme, assessment is designed to help you apply theory to real business challenges across modules such as operations management, supply chain strategy, logistics, procurement, sustainability, digital transformation and independent research.
Assessment methods vary by module and may include essays, management reports, presentations, group work, live briefs, consultancy-style projects and research-based assignments. The programme uses both formative and summative assessment to support your learning, develop your confidence and help you demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and professional decision-making.
As an applied MSc, our assessments are closely linked to professional practice and employability. You will have opportunities to engage with real-world business scenarios, including live briefs set by external organisations.

You will normally hold:
- a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline at 2:2 level or above, or
- an international or professional programme equivalent (eg CIPS or CILT level 6) qualification
- If English is not your first language, you will also need IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 in each skills area.
Applicants with a lower classification qualification may still be considered for entry to the programme if you can demonstrate a relevant level of work experience and/or knowledge to work at the required level.

The MSc Global Operations and Supply Chain Management can be completed full-time in one year, or part-time over 2–4 years (typically completed within three years), giving you the flexibility to fit your studies around work and other commitments.
Teaching hours
Like most universities, we operate extended teaching hours at the University of Derby, so contact time with your lecturers and tutors could be anytime between 9am and 9pm. Your timetable will usually be available on the website 24 hours after enrolment on to your course.
