So Lubrizol in Derbyshire is based in a little village called Hazelwood which is very close to to Duffield and just north of Derby.

So Lubrizol has got an important role to play in protecting the local nature and we have a large site here. Projects we've worked on with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is rewilding some of the areas. So we've set aside several areas on the site to let nature take over. We've planted native trees. So, recently put in 20 native trees to replace ones that have been damaged in recent storms. We have had a survey by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, they identified a Longhorn Beetle that's only been spotted one other place in Derbyshire. We've built several wildlife stacks. We have over 50 nest boxes around the site, have kestrels nesting and they've raised several youngsters over the past few years.

We have hosted a number of workshops on site through Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and they have helped our employees to reconnect with nature and not only to support nature but also to support their mental health and well-being as well. And so they can take that away, they can share that with their families and they can do those activities outside of work.

At Lubrizol we have a volunteer scheme and it can be community projects but also with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. So we've done work at Aqueduct Cottage and around that area to help rebuild that and clear some of the land around there ready for visitors. Businesses can help with biodiversity decline by planting local species and they can get advice from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on how to do that and what they they can plant in their area.

I think it's important that we are part of the solution to improve biodiversity and to, you know, to try and reverse that decline that we're seeing and because all businesses can make a difference. It can be from very small things that you can do, you know, to just having a window box or hanging baskets with pollinating plants in there and to those collaborations and those volunteering efforts as well. And I think without businesses playing their part, I think that can be very very hard to build those green corridors for wildlife and biodiversity, to support businesses and charities that are trying to do what they need to do as well. So they need us as businesses to help to support them to be able to deliver what they do. We can't do it alone and they can't do it alone. So coming together really makes that impact and makes it a lot more powerful.

I think it's really important that all businesses get behind Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, they get behind trying to increase biodiversity and nature recovery in their areas. It's important that we all play our part, that we all come together because we can have a much bigger impact if we all work together than we can working separately.
