About

Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Photography since 2014. Derby was one of the first institutions to offer a specialist higher education qualification in Photography in the UK. Consequently, leading this programme is a privilege and an honour.

I am an active researcher and image-maker, specialising most recently in analogue cine media and the creation of multiple projector installations in internal as well as external locations.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across the programme for all stages as follows:

• Practice-based modules including analogue and digital media, location and studio photography
• Dissertation and academic research
• Analogue cine media
• Professional practice
• External events and student professional engagement

• Art education in a digital environment.
• Photography and intellectual property.

Research interests

• The exploration of the qualities, values, limitations and potentials of cranky analogue cine media in a digital age
• Issues of identity and politics in the environment and ideas about landscape and nature
• Expanded cinema and film as embodied experience
