placement student, Moveen's Pektron experience video transcript

[0:00] Pektron look for people who go out of their way and do stuff in their spare time; you don't follow the institution; you sort of do your own thing and that is what Pektron looks for. And I was like, "Oh, that sounds like me".

[0:12] Hi, my name is Moveen. I go to the University of Derby and I study Electrical Electronic Engineering and I am currently a Trainee Electronics Design Engineer at Pektron.

[0:22] I went to a different university before and I studied Product Design, and I realised that I don't actually like a certain aspect of product design and I preferred electronics because I found it more useful and I figured if I would study electronics engineering then I'd be of more use to society.

[0:44] Yeah, I switched, joined University of Derby and there was a link to Pektron and there was a tour to be had within Pektron. I went to the building where they manufacture the electronic components and they spoke about how they have everything under one roof. That sold Pektron pretty well to me.

[1:06] So, I'm a trainee electronics design engineer and my day-to-day, funnily enough, differs each day.

[1:15] Sometimes I would just be at my desk. Other times I'd be at the labs for the entire day. Sometimes for multiple days. I can be soldering. I can be testing materials, taking measurements, stuff like that for the reports and spreadsheets.

[1:33] Pektron has a lovely flexi time policy. I love that. I would actually say the best part about Pektron is actually the employees, my co-workers and stuff. Everyone's friendly, everyone's helpful. There's a few characters here as well.

[1:48] I know it's a bit cliché, but it is actually the people at Pektron that actually do make it a really nice company.
