Nursing students in halls of residence

Most Nursing courses at the university have a 50-week duration, which means you may prefer to choose a hall that offers 50-week contracts. If you choose another hall you will have to move to another hall after 42 weeks.

The halls that offer 50-week contracts are:

• Peak Court
• St Christopher's Court
• Princess Alice Court

Room choice

There are a variety of rooms available with 50 weeks contracts so you can choose the best fit for you, subject to availability:

• Ensuite rooms at Peak Court (£180 a week 2026-7 academic year)
• Ensuite rooms at St Christopher’s Court (£180 a week 2026-7 academic year)
• Single ensuite rooms at Princess Alice Court (£150 a week 2026-7 academic year)
• Premium standard rooms at St Christopher’s Court (£128 a week 2026-7 academic year)
• Standard single rooms at Princess Alice Court (£119 a week 2026-7 academic year)

Rooms are allocated on a first come first come basis so if you have accepted your offer from Derby and chosen it as your first choice, you can apply for halls straight away.

The accommodation

All our hall accommodation is arranged in flats with four to six people sharing.  Each flat has its own fully equipped kitchen and depending on whether you choose an ensuite or standard room, there may be shared toilet and shower facilities. In most halls, communal areas in the flat are cleaned regularly and there is also a common room where you can play pool, PS4 and table tennis. You can also book out the room for your own event!

How to apply

• You’ll need to set up a Student Living account to apply
• Have your 9 digit student number starting with 100 to hand when you apply
• You’ll need to pay a £50 booking fee which is deducted off your first term’s rent
• We’ll contact you by email with an offer of accommodation

Value added

The halls programme of free events and activities known as Residence Life is open to all students living in halls.  Residents can also store bikes free of charge, benefit from our excellent pastoral care, quick maintenance turnaround times and the 24 mobile hour contact number. Car parking is available at all our 50 week halls for an extra charge of £400 a year for cars or £225 for motorbikes. Halls also benefit from 24/7 security monitoring including CCTV and night time security staff.
