Your first weeks

Your first couple of weeks at the University are known as Welcome – this is your introduction to life at the University of Derby. There’s lots to take in and we know that everyone is on a unique journey, so we don’t take a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. You’ll receive bespoke communications where we’ll guide you through your next steps.

Here’s a brief summary of what your first few weeks will look like.

Enrolment

Enrolment is how you’ll officially register as a University of Derby student. Before you arrive, you’ll be invited by email to complete your online enrolment. Once you’ve done this and completed your University Induction, you’ll receive confirmation that you’re fully registered. You’ll then need to bring proof of identity to collect your student ID card.

Events and activities

We’ll have a fantastic range of events and activities taking place to help you settle into student life, including Welcome Weekend at The Cavendish Building and the legendary Freshers Fair!

Timetables

You’ll be able to see your personalised timetable in UDo two working days after your enrolment has been confirmed. This will show your schedule of classes and where they will take place – make sure you know which site you need to be at.

Your first day

Your Programme Induction activities will be added to your timetable. This is to introduce you to your course and is planned by your programme leader. It’s different depending on your course so keep checking your timetable to know when you need to start.
