To help you extend your knowledge, we have exclusive discounts on offer to study at postgraduate level. Plus, there’s a wide range of flexible work-based study options to consider too.

If you have been using PebblePad during your course, you are entitled to a free Personal Pebble+ Alumni Account. This can contain everything you had in your University Asset Store as well as providing you with additional space to carry on using for personal and professional development. Please follow the instructions on how to activate your alumni account.

This account must be activated within 3 months of your programme being formally completed but will continue to be free for as long as the University of Derby holds a license for PebblePad.

Join the University of Derby library for free. The usual cost is a one-off, annual fee of £50.

Benefits include:

  • Access to our Derby-based libraries at the Kedleston Road and Britannia Mill sites and libraries based in Chesterfield and Leek
  • Five standard loan items at any one time

The University of Derby's strategic partner, Marketing Derby, invites alumni who are based in London, either living or working and have strong ties to Derby and Derbyshire, to join the London Chapter of the Derby Ambassadors Club.

The aim of the Club is to create a network that will help raise the profile of Derby and Derbyshire to attract investment into the city and county.

There is no cost to joining the Derby Ambassadors Club and benefits include:

  • Invitations to exclusive events in London and Derby to network with other club members and be kept up to date on developments in Derby and Derbyshire
  • Opportunities to meet key business leaders in Derby and Derbyshire
  • Quarterly e-newsletters covering key stories from the city and county

The Derby Ambassadors Club is wholly managed by Marketing Derby, a third-party organisation.

Our Derby Enterprise Network offers a range of workspaces, networks and events for external business people as well as for our own entrepreneurial students and graduates and includes:

Innovation Hothouse

Our Innovation Hothouse is a networking group for our self-employed graduates to receive business support and join a community of like-minded individuals. This also incorporates a bookable hot-desking space at the Enterprise Centre. As an alumni of our University, you can use this space for free. As a member of the Innovation Hothouse, you also receive free membership of the East Midlands Chamber (worth over £340 per year – an East Midlands based business is required for this membership). We also offer free membership to Generation Next, the East Midlands Chamber’s network specifically for professionals aged 18–35-year-old (normally £150 per year).

Co-working spaces at the Business Lounge

From our Business Lounge at the Enterprise Centre, you can work on your business in our professional, co-working space and mix with other entrepreneurs and members of the local business community. It includes hot desks with power points and free WiFi and a Costa coffee area. The Business Lounge is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Workspace

If you are further ahead in your business journey, you might be ready for your own office or studio space. We run three affordable 'incubation units' for start-ups: two in Derby and one in Chesterfield. There are many ways the University can support your career development, including helping you to develop your business ideas including accessing funding to help it grow.

  • Once you have successfully completed your studies at the University of Derby, we will continue to support you in securing the job you want. For up to three years after you graduate, our Careers and Employment Service will support and guide you with one-to-one appointments with employment advisers, career planning, CV tailoring and preparing for interviews

Leisure and retail discounts

You've worked hard to get your degree at the University of Derby, you are moving on to the next stage of your career and now we want to help you relax and enjoy yourself. We have exclusive sports and leisure offers for our Alumni, including discounted membership for our Sports Centre.

  • You can join our Sports Centre for £22.99 for monthly membership with Direct Debit or £229.90 for annual membership
  • Your membership includes access to all of our facilities at our £10.8m Sports Centre, including access to the gym and all classes on the activity timetable
  • You will need to provide your student number to benefit from the discount
  • The centre is open on weekdays from 6.30am-10pm and at weekends from 9am-5pm
  • You can also have access to over 90 other university gyms around the country with a multi-site membership for an extra £4.99 per month

University of Derby clothing

Would you like to update or replace your University of Derby hoodie? Alumni can claim a 10% discount on their purchases by entering 'alumni10' at the checkout in the Union of Students online shop.

Associate Membership

Maintain your team connections with this membership, it gives our alumni continued access to the Union of Students sports clubs and societies beyond graduation. Membership costs:

  • £15 for one year*
  • £20 for two years*

*Sports or Society membership fees are applicable on top of this membership. Contact the Union of Students at info@derbyunion.co.uk to find out more.

Totum cards can only be bought by registered students. However, final-year students are eligible to buy a three-year card. So, to continue benefiting from Totum discount, we recommend all final-year students buy one before they complete their course.

  • A three-year card costs £32
  • You can also buy a one-year card for just £12 or a two-year card for £22
  • A Totum card entitles you to more than 200 UK discounts
  • Many discounts are online only so you can’t get them without your Totum card
  • You will also receive a one-year FREE ISIC card, which will give you over 42,000 international discounts
