What are Institutes of Technology?

The Institutes of Technology (IoTs) are a group of education providers working at the forefront of higher technical education. They facilitate a close partnership between high-performing further education colleges, universities and employers. They help to ensure that the courses we offer are based on what the economy and local communities need and provide our students with the best possible career prospects. 

The East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT) is a partnership involving the University of Derby, Derby College Group, Loughborough University, and Loughborough College. We're working with a range of employers across the region to ensure we have a future-fit workforce for digital and low-carbon economies.

Our employers include:

These employers will be providing you with site access for real-world experiences, live briefs, placement opportunities and student mentorship. This is to present a new model for skills delivery and provide learners with a route into STEM-based occupations such as automotive engineering, cyber security, agri-tech, aerospace, healthcare and lab science. 

Courses on offer for 2024

There is a huge variety of courses and options on offer via the East Midlands IoT. At the University of Derby Hub, you’ll be based at the Enterprise Centre in Derby which has been designed specifically to support students studying at the EMIoT.
